For All You Horse-lovers
Have you ever wanted to rescue an abused horse? Shower a neglected mini with love? Adopted a thoroughbred whose racing days are long past? Is that a yes? Then visit this website created for Habitat for Horses.
The Motivation
I wanted website visitors to feel just how miraculous Habitat for Horses is, not just for rescued equines, but for people too. I'm honored to have gotten to know the founder, Jerry Finch, and President, Rebecca Williams — two true salt-of-the-earth folks. Their hardworking and spirited dedication to giving equines second chances is unmatched. The Habitat for Horses website needed supporters to feel their strength and kindhearted souls.
So we created an intuitive user experience for potential adopters, volunteers and supporters. The more equines that were adopted, the more equines that could be rescued! And the more volunteers and supporters who supported Habitat for Horses with their time and donations meant more resources for all the 300+ horses, donkeys and minis that call Habitat for Horse's 434 acres of pasture, home.
Designed to Grow
Their website also needs to keep pace with their ever-growing heart. So making content updates easy was a must. We designed and built it within a custom Drupal CMS. This framework means every new equine gets a profile at intake, improving their chances of adoption. Stories are told in real-time. Donations are processed efficiently, volunteers can join them. And when we needed to rally the horse-loving community to speak up on equine welfare issues, we quickly added an advocacy section without bugging our developers!
